On-line Meetings with DimDim

With the economy today, we are all looking to watch our business expenses and save money. One area that is always under the microscope during these times is business travel for customer meetings. Flying, hotels, car rental, etc.. all add up really quickly into a few thousand dollars and so companies look towards technology solutions to help reduce meetings costs. Companies that provide services where business meetings can be carried out over the Internet have done a great job in making that experience like a face-to-face meeting. A new comer into the on-line meeting industry is DimDim, a FREE web conferencing service (up to 20 people in a meeting) where you can share your desktop, show slides, collaborate, chat, talk and broadcast via webcam with absolutely no download required to host or attend meetings.

I have tried the service with my co-workers and it has worked really well, I was very impressed with the quality and performance of the product. Best of all it's free!!

Hudson Boat Works

So the new year is off to a quick start, the first long weekend of 2009 is just a month away (yeah!!). For my first post of the year I was thinking what to talk about, it didn't take me long to think of our economy and the struggles people are facing these days especially in the manufacturing sector. I started at the opposite end, as always I'm interested in the technology sector of this great city. So I started my search on Google to see what the technology sector is delivering these days in the Forest City. I came across Resolution Interactive Media a small web development company that is delivering some great websites, as I looked over their portfolio they just completed a website for Hudson Boat Works. A London company manufacturing boats for sale to professional rowing teams. Looks like a great company that has a long history in our city. Reading over their company history I notice they are looking to grow!!!

"Jack Coughlan and his brother-in-law Hugh Hudson founded Hudson Boat Works in 1981, and Jack remains President today. With a growing international reputation and expansion in key international markets, the goal is to double our capacity in the next 4 years, and consolidate and expand our facilities from 30,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet. The number of employees is expected to increase to 75."

What a great opportunity for anyone out there looking for work in the manufacturing sector to try and join this successful organization.

I would like to wish everyone all the best in 2009 and please ensure to check out London Technology News once in a while to get the latest on the Technology companies of our city.
