How do I go about gettng a job or finding work in London Ontario?

Here is the quickest way that I have used to locate jobs in London for friends and family,

  • What is the trick to really getting the best search results?
    • DO NOT USE any keywords, just type in your location "London Ontario"
IF you use keywords to search, you'll miss out potentially on jobs.  Not everyone uses the same job title that you're thinking off or they just have very creative ways to name job titles.  For example, University of Western Ontario is currently looking for Alumni Engagement Officer - Ceremonies. I didn't even know that you can have such a great job title for something that I would call an Event Planner or Co-ordinator.

  • Find industry websites or groups you're interested
    • Start with a large industry websites and drill down to find local organizations / websites
    • Explore LinkedIn groups, you may find very cool industry specific groups
    • Used LinkedIn job search, lots of jobs posted on LinkedIn are not posted elsewhere

Next topic coming: I found a job, I want to apply but I don't think I'm qualified

Checkout51 - coupons made easy to save you time and money

About 2 years ago my better half decided to join the coupon revolution in order to save money on groceries that only keep going up.  As always she didn't waste time doing her research and quickly attended a local seminar with Coupon Christine university and graduated in about an hour with a masters degree in saving money with coupons.  To save you the time and $10,000 in tuition (kidding just read Christine's 101 Couponing page), here is the magic formula that I was brainwashed with:

Purchase photo album like binder to organize your paper coupons
Setup 2nd Facebook Account to trade Likes for Coupon with Manufacturers
+
Don't be afraid to write a manufacturer website to tell them how great they are (you'll get coupons)
+
Trade coupons on Facebook groups (no kid, you don't need the diaper coupons, trade them away like hockey cards!!)
Make sure you get all the local grocery store flyer's weekly so you can start price matching
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 $10-20 off weekly on groceries
and
enough paper coupons in the mail to heat the house for a month

I was not too excited about my new chore of clipping coupons added to my honey do list and learning along the way that the advertising worlds sucks when it comes to saving trees.  I was hoping the mobile application world was going to invent something to save me time and trees along the way.  Recently it came true when I tried Checkout51 on the iPhone (looking forward to the Android version soon). Checkout51 makes claiming manufacturer coupon discounts easy as 1,2,3... just

  • Review the product coupon offers for the week on Checkout51
  • Purchase the products at your local store
  • Take a picture of the receipt that captures products you purchased and submit it to Checkout51
  • When your coupon discounts value reaches $20, Checkout51 mails you a cheque
Saves you time, money and it's environmentally friendly...what else could you ask for, enjoy!!

Back after a long break...

It's been a while since my last post (well over 2 years), the evolution of technology did not stop and it only accelerated to a speed where it's very challenging to stay on top of what's the latest and greatest.  I continue to be amazed how empowered we have become to impact the world, our cities and friends around us everyday through simple applications that are just a finger swipe away on our smart phones.  I hope to continue to bring you interesting articles on technology solutions that save you time and money.
